Stoney Lake Cottages for Rent

creekside_riverp Stoney Lake is one of the most popular lakes in the Kawarthas for a variety of waterborne activities.  Avid fishermen will be rewarded by good opportunities to take home some supper; kids will enjoy tubing and swimming and busy workers will love the chance to relax on a dock and enjoy the sunshine.

Just listed are two cottages on Julia’s Creek, which is a little known waterway off the main lake where tranquility and peace are the order of the day. No screaming skidoos or motor boats spoil the charm and ambience of this backwater and an afternoon spent on the dock with a good book may be as active as you’ll want to be.  The creek is not the best for swimming and this is reflected in the rental rates for these two charming cottages, which should leave you enough to rent a boat from Peel Marine to dock at your waterfront.  Then you can take off into the lake and swim wherever you wish.

creekside_ext2Creekside is a two bedroom cottage with delightful gardens, a deck   overlooking the creek with great views, and comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people.  It has a good sized kitchen with a dining area, and a bathroom with Jacuzzi tub.  If that isn’t all, there’s a hot tub too!  At a great rate of $975 per week, you are getting a lot for a little.

juliascreek_ext2 Julia’s Creek Cottage is a year round 3 bedroom home and is really well equipped.  We loved the sunroom as a great place to take morning coffee or aperitifs; the great kitchen with breakfast bar, and the good-sized family room with large screen TV (satellite of course).  There’s internet access here too. It’s $1300 per week for this fully loaded property that will sleep 6.

Call us on 1 866 323 6698 and ask to speak to Heather who has viewed both of these lovely cottages.

Twin Birches – new listing on Chandos Lake

twin_birches_ext The owner of this cottage is just finishing up renovations and new photos will be uploaded soon, but it will look lovely. I particularly liked the painted wood floors which are in keeping with the history of the cottage which has been in the family for over 45 years. Chandos is a gorgeous lake and the water here is clean and clear and great for swimming.

Best features of Twin Birches: The screened sunroom, cosy dining room and lots of lawned gardens for play. The cottage sleeps 6 and rents for $1280 per week in high season. It’s open for booking now.

New Cottage Listing on Lake Vernon

vernon2_frontext Spruce Hollow is a spacious property on one of the finest lakes in Muskoka. With accommodation for two families and plenty of waterfront and lawned gardens for relaxing and playing, young and old alike with love the space and surroundings.  We particularly liked Huntsville being so close (just 20 minutes) for shopping, eating out, and attractions such as the Algonquin Theatre and Muskoka Heritage Place

You can launch your own boat directly at the property and rent one from a nearby marina. Take your family or enjoy some time with friends at this lovely cottage.

Sleeps up to 12 at $3250 per week in high season

New Listing – a 32 Acre Private Island on Loughborough Lake

big_island_cottage1 I love water access cottages because I have to inspect them which means a boat ride. Since I rarely have time to get my own boat out on Belmont Lake, I really enjoy the opportunity to see cottages from the water aspect. Viewing Big Island on Loughborough Lake was a special treat.

This is such a unique vacation rental location. Your own 32 acre island with walking trails, diving rocks, shallow sandy beaches and lots of wildlife, is just five minutes by boat from the mainland. The rustic and comfortable two bedroom cottage and and one bedroom guest cabin, along with permanent canvas tent on a cedar platform will accommodate a family who love the outdoors and thrive on getting back to nature (with the comforts of home). big_island_small

Boat rental is available from the marina or bring your own. There’s 3 canoes and 3 kayaks included in this rental for exploring around the island and finding your own special picnic spot. I think this is such a special location – call us for more information on 866 323 6698 and check the listing at Big Island. There is accommodation for up to 10 people at $2200 per week in July and August.

The Key to a Relaxing Cottage Rental Vacation

key_retreat_ext_dock I visited my favourite cottage this week. Key Retreat on the Key River, about an hour north of Parry Sound, is located a 12 minute boat ride from Dore’s Resort on Hwy 69. It is the most idyllic place with outstanding privacy. The nearest neighbours are a kilometre in one direction and 2 km in the other. Guests have the use of a boat with a 15hp motor, which is enough for the occasional fishing trip or to explore up and down the river.  The weekly rate of $1525 includes the boat rental. The cottage has three bedrooms, an open plan kitchen, living and dining area, and comfortable family room with a wood burning stove for cooler evenings.

parry_island_exterior_4 On the same day, I dropped into Paradise Lane on Parry Island (road access) to check how the owner was getting along with renovations. This was the first time I’d been to this cottage and just loved the sandy beach, light filled cottage, and the good amount of lawned space for outdoor games. The owner is currently working on preparing the lower floor family room and bar which will be all ready for the start of the rental season. There is just one week left in July, and the last week of August, but I don’t expect those to last long as soon as interested renters see the new photos on the listing.

We have taken on a lot of new properties over the past few weeks so have a lot of availability in a range of cottages. Take a look at the July and August calendars to see what’s new and which weeks are open for booking.

New Listing on Belmont Lake

suncatcher_ext2 Suncatcher Cottage lives up to it’s name. Delightfully located on Belmont Lake it has wrap-around waterfront, with east, west and south exposure, with decks on the property to capture the sun at all times of the day. The sandy beach and shallow walkout will delight small children while the dock going out to  deeper water offers diving and great swimming. Inside, the four bedrooms and two bathrooms plus the bunkie, adds up to great accommodation for two families. Take a look at the listing and get booking. Sleeps 8 – 10 and is $1675 per week in high season.

Your Dream Cottage Is Still Out There If You Know Where To Look

"Have I left it too late to book?" I get asked this question every day and from my perspective the answer is an emphatic "NO". This time of the year is when owners are just taking possession of their new cottages; others are being opened up after the long winter, and a lot of properties are coming onto the rental market for the first time.

I will be listing over 20 new properties in the next few weeks on CLRM so it’s definitely not too late to book. Here’s a few of the upcoming cottages:

riversong_ext1 Crowe River – home to an environmentalist journalist and author, this is a beautiful retreat for those wanting an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. This Linwood home has a pine and cedar interior; three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is located in a tranquil spot on the river. For peace and quiet and a totally natural environment, you’ll find it here.

Methe_beach

We’re excited about listing this cottage on Kennisis Lake. With beautiful waterfront and a terrific cottage, it will doubtless become one of our most popular locations. Everyone wants a sandy beach, and this one is great – soft sand and a shallow walkout to the water. Watch out for this one being listed – I can imagine the available weeks will fill up soon.

I saw a delightful cottage on Gunter Lake near Bancroft this past week. It too has a hard sand walkout to the water and has a very private feel to it. Although there is another cottage to one side, once on the deck, lawn or beach, you will have all the privacy you want. I visited on a very wet and cold day so am still waiting for some sunny-day photos, but I can describe this cute two bedroom + bunkie cottage if you want information before it is listed.

Others coming up – a four bedroom cottage on Belmont Lake with over 400ft of water frontage and lots of privacy; a Redstone Lake stunner; sunset views on Crowe Lake from a delightful 3 bedroom Viceroy; two delightful cottages on Lake Simcoe, both with sandy, shallow walkouts; and lots more. Renting a Large Cottage for a Family Vacation

When I was living in England, we used to vacation each year with our best friends and their kids. There were usually 10 or 12 of us depending on how many of our adult children came along. Our favourite destination was Cornwall – a holiday by the sea – and we invariably rented a large country home on, or nearby the beach. Because there were three, or sometimes four families contributing, we were able to rent much larger places and enjoy the type of vacation home that would have been beyond our reach if we had been on our own.

Now I’m involved with helping other families create their dream vacation it’s great to see so many taking the opportunity to share their time together and enjoy the benefit of a luxury cottage rental.

manitou_ext This week we listed Manitou, a new 4,800 sq foot property on Sturgeon Lake, near Fenelon Falls that would be a superb location for a family holiday. The cottage has seven bedrooms and four bathrooms; a great room with living, dining and kitchen areas; family and games room with home theatre systems; an office/computer room with hi-speed internet access, and of course it has fabulous waterfront with docks and a boathouse. Sleeping up to 14 people, shared among three families, the $4900 per week price tag is very reasonable given the space, features and facilities on offer.

Manitou on Sturgeon Lake is available for weekly rental throughout the summer, and there are also some midweek (five night) breaks possible. There’s discounts for smaller groups in the low season too which makes a luxury break possible for fewer people.

gunter_escape_ext Gunter Lake Escape, south of Bancroft, is another beautiful property with space for sharing. This log cottage is full of ambience and warmth and with five bedrooms on three levels offers ample flexibility for family groups. There is a smaller cottage alongside the main house that would extend the accommodation considerably if required. At $2750 for the Escape and an additional $950 for the Lodge, this is great accommodation option for a big family.

belmont_ext3 Sylvan Lodge on Belmont Lake has a great sand beach and is a superb choice for groups who want to  be with each other but still have their own space. The main, three bedroom cottage has a completely self contained two-bedroom apartment to one side that benefits from its own kitchen, bathroom and living area. This is ideal for grandparents who need some privacy from time to time – I remember that well!

When you are looking for a cottage, don’t dismiss the higher priced properties if they don’t fall within your budget. If you are willing to share the cottage rental rate with friends and family it may well be in your price range. Call us and discuss these options. We have visited every one of our properties and can help you choose just the right one for your family. Take a look at our availability calendars to see what dates we have available.

New Cottage Rental Listings Coming Soon

There’s a great sense of anticipation in the office as we begin planning our cottage viewing trips for the next few weeks. There’s around 30 new Ontario cottages for rent to be listed and we have to view them all, which is the best job in the world.

Our standards are high so we have to make sure each property meets the criteria we set and will be ready for rental by mid-June. We are looking for spotlessly clean properties with comfortable beds, attractive furnishings and the general ambience that makes an Ontario cottage vacation so very special. Not every cottage will be accepted as we are on the search for the very best.

Sturgeon Lake Executive Cottage The ones we have already seen include a seven bedroom luxury home on Sturgeon Lake; a gorgeous cottage on Lake Simcoe with a hot tub; a 3 bedroom cottage on Six Mile Lake with a guest cabin and outstanding waterfront; and a spectacular newly built log home near Bancroft. New Cottage Rental Listing near Wasaga Beach

jp_exterior1 Wasaga Beach is such a popular area for summer vacations, but it’s also a great location for out of season breaks. Our new listing is just a 20 minute drive from Wasaga Beach and for skiers, Blue Mountain, Mount St Louis Moonstone and Hardwood Hills are easily reached for half day, or full day outings.

JP’s Chalet  provides luxury accommodations for up to 8 people in four spacious bedrooms. The master has an ensuite bathroom with a whirlpool bath. JP’a also has the new ‘must have’ in a cottage – high speed internet – so why not take a few days for a break in the snow and you can still keep in touch with the office.

We think this will book up fast for the summer too, so check the availability and reserve your week. With Wasaga Beach itself just a short drive, and more beaches within easy walking distance, this is going to become one of our most popular vacation rental properties.
