With the long weekend coming up, and since the date is so close to Valentine’s Day, why not make this an opportunity to get away for the weekend and take a romantic break in cottage country.
Camperdown Cottage is a delightful venue for romance in a winter wonderland. This great cottage is near to Blue Mountain for a day out skiing, or just enjoying some time in the village.
The comfortable cottage has an open fireplace for snuggling up after a long day playing in the snow, and a 52" TV for watching a good movie.
River Haven Retreat is just that. On the Burnt River, it is a true haven for a romantic retreat. There are snowshoe trails nearby at Snowden Park, or try cross country skiing on the Haliburton trails. Ski rental is available in a couple of places so check the Haliburton Trails and Tours network for more information.
Did I mention Osprey Cottage on my last post on places to stay for the Family Day weekend? Probably…but we’ve had a cancellation and it is available once again for the long weekend. Take your Valentine here and you’ll not only get a superbly comfortable cottage but you’ll have a 36 jet hot tub, a wood burning stove and a welcome gift basket with wine and chocolates.
Nutmeg Cottage is a neat property located in the heart of Bobcaygeon and would make a great base for winter touring in the Kawarthas. The log home has a wood stove for warming up after a day exploring the local trails. This is ideal for those who don’t want to be too far from restaurants and small shops, but still want to be in the country.
And, if you are looking for something to accommodate a family or two couples, how about Tucked Away Bay on Paudash Lake, near Bancroft. Cross country skiers will be in their element here with the trails at Silent Lake Provincial Park almost on the doorstep, and the Kawartha Nordic Centre at Apsely just a short distance away. The cottage itself is just gorgeous – and a delightful location for a winter break.
We’ve got cottages to suit all groups for the long weekend, or any weekend in winter. Since the snowfall has resumed after the January thaw, there’s plenty of winter activities to enjoy. Give us a call on 1 866 323 6698 or check our web site at www.clrm.ca
